We have blood tested our ewes and have came back with mega high levels of iodine and low levels of selenium vet has advised that we jag all lambs at birth with selenium/vit e ewes have been bolused with mayo 4 in 1! Any other suggestions to get Sel into them before lambing without to much iodine? Ewes had access to crystalyx and reading the label has high iodine content! Ewes are getting a good nut and due to start lambing outside mid march so not a lot of time anybody had any experience of this before? Any advise greatly appreciated

Simple solution here would be to apply selenium prills to the land, so as to address the root of the low selenium issue, rather than the symptoms

We had an issue with this strategy - we spread no fert and ¼ acre cells meant we weren't going to start - so we upped the dairy grazing and put lots of minerals through their water supply via a dosatron.
As the sheep really only went for the freshwater and puddles, we could give a lot of copper as well as selenium cobalt zinc etc

It all ends up on the land anyway so I just contradicted my opening statement, however it beats dosing animals hands down, don't care if that troubles the wannabe vets on here or not 😅 making a daily slurry of dairymin is easy work
