Applied last June,29th to be precise and heard nothing from defra/government.agent has chased it but not heard anything.how long is it before you normally hear something.done nothing since harvest here And would be nice to do some planning.should apparently start on jan 1 2023 if we are successful.

By last year do you mean June just gone or June 2021?

if it’s June 2021 then it’s a write to your MP job. If it’s June just gone then it is not uncommon to not have heard anything yet.

If your application was under the Wildlife Offer then it will as Flat 10 says be accepted automatically. If a CSS application then it is competitive but in previous years all have been accepted. You have not given us all the information. Did you use an agent. If so and that agent has experience of these schemes they will be able to confirm what I have written. I just assumed this is a winge at Defra.RPA thread???

I’m not that familiar with the arable options, but for most options where you have to establish a crop (say a herbal ley) you have the first year of the agreement to do it in so no need to leave the ground free until you get your agreement.

I hope you cant rejoin SFI again!!!
Love you dearly @Clive but no one else was allowed to join SFI or the Pilot in CS so why should you rejoin? CS is already history as is current tenancy agreements and contract farming agreements🤣 the future is clear as mud however.. and the big however is what will be next after 6th April 2025.. HUNO's 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You can't join CSS whilst in SFI pilot but you can when in SFI "proper"

so like any other farmer can that is what I will be doing ! ie joining SFI why wouldn’t I

totally illogical that sfi pilot farmers couldn't join CSS and DEFRA agreed when I spoke to them about it

April 2025 is some time away, until then I will do whatever I can to maximise my farm income. SFI CSS and ISO carbon sales, When 2025 comes along I will do what's best then

Very sensible choices considering our current options

why not ? why should I be unable to when any other farmer can ?
Any other farmer with CS so called double funding options couldnt join the pilot for SFI or SFI at present if we are mid scheme.. I am sure you have selected all the poorly paid not double funded CS options therefore that allow you to max out on SFI too... so i take it back and well done you for making the right financial choice at the right time whilst others are being forced by DEFRA to buy ploughs🤣🤣

other than sfi pilot farmers its my understanding that existing and new css agreement farmers can now join sfi

no CSS farms was just a pilot requirement

Not if they picked CS double funding options like SW6 cover crops and AB15 temporary fallow or AB8 wild bird food in rotations.. CS can only be on land and part land not in options that deliver the most... The minor CS options are fairly pointless for wildlife if elligible for SFI.. which options did you choose on your arable rotational area?
