Anyone use Farm Matters software?

Just having a look at some different software packages for managing the sheep and found this one. In the past we've bought one which we've paid for upfront then not bothered with the annual fee as we've not needed the back up support.

Farm matters seems to be an annual fee, no upfront cost, but does anyone know whether you have to keep paying this fee every year to keep it working? If so that seems a bit pricey to me. I did speak to them about it and didn't get a clear answer, in fact they got a bit huffy about me suggesting that I didn't want to pay for the cattle element as well.

I like this one cos it's got field management as well. Maybe there's others that have this as well that aren't too pricey?

I have been talking to the guys from Farmflo recently and have been very impressed by what they have and are planning, its cloud based which IMO is the future of all these kind of thing and links nicely with Xero account cloud software which I already use

http://farmflo.com/

I don't know a lot about the livestock job but it seems as equally suited to that sector as it does the arable job ?

Trying to negotiate a bit of a deal for TFF member discounts etc. not really there quite yet but watch this space !!

Hi

We currently have the crops and beef, dairy, suckler live in the UK and also integrations with BCMS, Xero, we are cloud based but we also have an app that is free to download and will work-off line then sync automatically back up to the cloud. We are about to start work on the sheep module and any input would be greatly welcome so please get in touch. All modules included in the price, service is free and we will not charge for upgrades.

We are very well priced and as Clive mentioned we are currently working on something with the TFF to be finalised very soon.

Please get in touch as we are more than happy to help

What do you think of it Will ? I know there is a lot of development to come which looks really good to me as I've hands bit of a sneak preview ! . If they manage 75% of what they told me is coming it's going to blow everything else out of the water ! Plus you never buy it, monthly £20 or so sub is so much more palatable

If I could get a TFF members discount would you be interested ?

I really want a credible gatekeeper alternative as I'm really not happy about them selling our data ! I want cloud and xero compatibility so reckon these guys might just be on to something !

Importantly they are farmers so they understand our needs well imo and promise me they have no plans to sell data to anyone !

Thanks Clive, we are constantly working to enhance Farmflo based on feedback from our farmers and we are working hard to give an alternative to gatekeeper, something that puts the farmers needs first. Farmflo started life out as a simple solution to help us out on our own farm and has grown for there, although I would wish we could have created something to improve the weather :)

a gatekeeper import wizard would be a great start - I will give it a fair go at that point

I haven't got it all set up yet - I need a clear day on the laptop to do all the fields etc. Just adopted two children so I'm learning my time management needs to be better!

But my gut feeling is its good and user friendly - the use of the app is a real bonus. Its a nice clear interface and the people behind it are very responsive. I don't like bing maps though

Looking at sum it for beef but they want over £600 . But then you have the program for life . If I pay £20 to farmflo in 3 years time that's over £600. If you could pay by the number of cows that would be better so some with 800 cows would pay more then someone with 50.

Hi, thanks for the kind messages. Well there seems to be some confusion here regarding the Farm Matters service. Yes we supply a software program including Cattle, Sheep, Fields, NVZ, Vet med etc etc in one annual support package of 186 +vat. But we also advise our users on legislation issues, inspection issues, and to be honest anything record keeping / computer related issues. We like to speak to our customers and help them work through the nightmare of legislation in this industry at their own pace. This can be challenging but rewarding and we are pleased to say our customers like what we do, its a reassuring feeling knowing you can pick up the phone prior to an RPA inspection and someone is there to help.

To add to the initial post. The software is not modular and yes you do pay the annual fee of 186 for the entire service.

There is zero catch and no contract for the service so there is nothing to lose really. You just download the live trial from our website and away you go. No restrictions, download your cattle from BCMS, unrestricted use until you decide its for you.

Just get in touch I am happy to help answer any questions what so ever...

thing is buying this software is just the start, I have over £3000 of gatekeeper modules but still have to pay £600 plus a year for support even if you don't need support you have to pay or don't get updates etc

£20 a month or whatever for Farmflo would be significantly less than my support fees alone for GK

For the £20 you have access to the software, free mobile app for working offline, unlimited support, free training, no upgrade or downloads or CD installs needed, you can run it on MAC, PC, Ipad or any mobile device and are not limited to a PC sitting in the farm office and nothing to install. We do not limit you by the size of your farm and you can have as many people as you like. As farmers ourselves we know that farmers needs are constantly changing so we have a team of developers working constantly on the product and can work in any feature requests that you have. As we are constantly evolving Farmflo in 3 years time the software will be completely different to the CD you would have in your hand. We have a free 30 days trial so jump in and have a go, also you can cancel anytime so it is a low upfront cost to get started.

I am a Farm Secretary and use the Farm Matters software for a number of different clients, I find the programme extremely easy to use and Neil is always available on the phone, if I have left a message for him he always responds and helps to sort the problem quickly and efficiently.
