Unlike dutch elm where the beetle needs thick enough bark to burrow round and kill, ash die back fungus can quickly "ring" a small sapling and kill it.
Spotted the first victims of Dieback walking around our paddocks yesterday. The ones in the garden which need some work doing are rotting fit though. We dont have a huge amount of Ash though so hopefully the damage wont be severe.
