Base station or Sim

Good thread @Adeptandy. We have 2 tractors on ntrip RTK that will be up for renewal at the end of the year.

Which ntrip RTK base station would people recommend so we can save the cost of the subcriptions?

We have a 3rd tractor which is currently on omnistar, I presume this would be a bit more involved and require modems and unlock codes to get it onto an ntrip system?

Your own? :)

Yes but I assume the question was about which hardware to use. The Ardusimpe SimpleRTK2B GNSS receiver board and a Raspberry Pi are cheap and complete software is available for free. There are many commercial products that may be a bit easier to set up but are twice as expensive. Then some well known precision ag products that cost 20 times more.

Oh absolutely... and my guide shows exactly what to buy and how to set it up. What I especially like about rtkbase/ardusimple is you can diagnose any issues yourself. I also extended it to update a dynamic DNS provider any time my IP changes.

Had a guy on mine the other day, he was having stability issues elsewhere and so used mine instead as I was closer. I could see his connection direct on my rpi, and noticed that his source port was occasionally incrementing. Thus, connection issue on his side - his signal kept dropping out.

Not the sort of info you can easily dig out with a closed system.
