Hi I am looking for a young bull 14 to 18 months old and really fancy a blonde or a bazadaise I am just looking for other people's opinions on them nearly all my stock is wintered outside and currently run a nice Angus bull ( I will be keeping him as well) and can't fault him just wanting a bit more shape in my calves

You'll certainly get shape and a really good grading from a Bazadaise. Not too sure about the 'wintering outside' bit though, especially in the north. They are thinner skinned than angus.
@choochter will be more help there.
No experience of Blondes.

Would a bazadaise be similar skinned to a limmy as we used to have them and thay did OK outside its just there's no much shelter here at all ?
I would say so.

I have both Bazadaise and Limousin and outwinter, certainly up to New Year, and afterwards depends on the weather. If a lot of wind and rain they can go out but get silage inside.
They do fine. Maybe the calves would grow more if they were all inside but outwintering's good for taking condition off fat cows otherwise some of mine would get too fat. Dont get sick calves either.

my pure Bazadaise and BazxLim finish 50%-U and 50%U+, fat class 3 or 4L. 17-23 months KO% between 57% and 61%

You'll get a very good Baz bull for between £2-3000.

If you want a bull you can put a wanted ad free of charge on the Baz website and on the Baz Facebook page.
Or PM me and I can help put you in touch with members who may have bulls for sale.

Bazadaise are not the type of cattle that are lean thin skinned.
If your cows are loosing condition outdoors and your calves would do better inside I would class them as thin skinned and unsuitable for outwintering.

Me and the wife went to the Royal show a few years ago and I saw a stand with a Bazadaise bull in a pen and another with a cow and cross bred calf.

I was well impressed with the quality of the calf as his mother was a dairy cross.

When we got home I tried to persuade my old man to buy a bull but he was having none of it and bought a lim instead. [emoji17]

That sounds good to me 80% of my cows are dairy cross

Thanks for the tag @Hesstondriver
We keep pedigree Blondes alongside a mixed suckler herd.
A Blonde will certainly put some shape into your calves, we have a couple of Angus x cows (dairy bred) and their calves are always very good and often the first to finish. Over in Australia Blonde x Angus is becoming a very popular cross. And I think someone on here criss crosses Blonde and Angus, could be @Extreme Optimist?? Apologies if not.
Blondes are pretty hardy, and certainly aren't thin skinned! They don't have a big fluffy fine coat like some breeds but rather have a very coarse dense hair that lies flatter (makes soaping up at shows trickier). We farm at over 1000ft in the Peak District and although don't outwinter we quite often keep cows and calves out until Christmas, if ground conditions allow. I know of a large Blonde herd in Staffordshire who outwinters.
I've no experience in Bazadaise, but having seen some out and about, I would say they are a lot smaller framed animal than a Blonde. A Blonde will therefore produce a bigger framed animal, whilst still being easy calving.
There will be a good selection of bulls in the H&H online sale, or I can give you contact details of local herds if you prefer.
