Beginner DD - Atchison

I bought an aitchison seedmatic drill over the summer.

It has the latest t-slot boots

First job is to stitch a grass seed mix into a fairly thin short term ley.

I've grazed the existing sward down hard.

Any tips on settings for this - particularly depth? I'm assuming as shallow as possible,. I.e. just deep enough so that the wings of the t-boot/Coulter are under the soil,.or,. just scratch the top?

What was your prep before drilling?
Thank you.

We had a silage crop off a 15 year old ley, but glysophated it 7 days pre mowing, this then allowed us to speed up the drilling process as it was a late decision to do it and time was ticking on.

The result was a lovely burnt off mown silage residual that we just went straight into with the Aitchison, we didn't even roll, which was perhaps a mistake as it would have perhaps made it a bit less patchy in places although it's all come pretty well in the end.

Literally drilled and then just shut the gate. One theory I did read up on was to spread lime pre-drilling to de-acidfy the decaying old turf as this can be poisonous to new seedlings, but more in a wet time, and as it was a dry autumn I think we got away with it.
