What would be the simplest, and cheapest to repair tractor to be used by a stockman, round about 140 HP. It will do a lot of road work and about 1500 hrs a year. Is there a reliable tractor left that will last? The current tractor has been good, but soon to be out of warranty.

The nh will cost more on diesel. We tested a 150 hp against a valtra doing the same road work hauling 12 ton loads and the NH used 48 litres more / day.
The new Holland probably did twice as many loads because the Valtra driver was stopped telling everyone he saw how good his Valtra was!

Do you ever tire of spouting bullsh1t on every thread?

I had a Valtra great engine,one thing it’s wasn’t was economical!

No , the two tractors are owned by the same man who does a lot of plant hire work , both tractors did the identical work load for load with 14 ton Nc dump trailers , and both were being refilled by an oil lorry. The lorry metered in 48 litres more to the NH . 100% fact . I know the truth annoys people sometimes .

Thats a heck of a workload and a machine you can't dare to be without. Who is the best/nearest dealer- buy a machine from them and keep it under warranty. For lots of road work and creep crawling your left leg wants a vario gearbox. If it is looked after and driven sensibly it will be worth a mint second hand and this give low cost of ownership. The value of the machine will be far exceeded by the value of the feed being handled.
