Just put pencil to paper! I left school after doing my 'O' Levels, I am 64 now!! so '71 or '72!! Long before The national centre was thought of! Always peaved me that they did not produce a programme because Redgrave Pinsent et all are about the same age and it would have been nice to know if they were there!!

Redgrave was born in ‘62 and Pinsent is only about 50 now so I doubt they were there! But I do like the course at Peterborough 4 lane racing over 1000m is perfect in my opinion.

We were bored boarders at Grammar school and went down to the local rowing club! The captain and coach took us inhand and when we turned up for the second Sunday in a row he spoke to the Headmaster/housemaster and bingo we were entered for the competition. I have never been so fit as those 3 months before the competition, I even scored points for the house in the school xcountry!!
I was not a sportsman but I enjoyed rowing! They only used two lanes if my memory serves me right. It was fabulous to see it though but we are so far from major rivers and rowing clubs that I did not persue it as it was unfair to ask my parents to run me about and YFC was the future!!

Only two rowing clubs in Lincs for many years until Lincoln Rowing Centre was formed fairly recently, still it is a big county to only have three in, Ancholme RC in Brigg, Lincoln and Boston.

Ancholme R C was just down from the School! Now the Sir John Nelthorpe School in my day It was BGS! With a boarding house attached to the School, several of my cousins had boarded so I was given the opportunity.
