You'd think any grant would be tied to the owner of the land, rather than a limited company. But then this is the Scottish Government we are talking about.I think I also read somewhere that the greenwashing side of the business is set up as a separate limited company, so I imagine if they are required to repay a significant amount they will just go bang, and start again. I guess that’s proper regeneration!
Who owns the land. One of the owners of brew dog owns the pubs then rents them back to the brewery. Not sure it's all dodgy but the reports and programs about it don't paint a great picture of brew dog. The owner seams to have done well financially though. A made in Chelsea girlfriend too, not sure if that's a measure of success! You'd think any grant would be tied to the owner of the land, rather than a limited company. No idea, but these grants should be tied to the land owner, to stop the above happening. Any change in ownership, the new owner would have legal obligations to continue with any agreements. not sure if that's how it works, but it should be.Who owns the land. Brew dog bought the estate, not sure if thats brew dog the company, the crowd funded bits or the owners/ founders themselfs. There was a sound that they were saying every pint you buy plants a tree then they were claiming the grants too! Clever chancers at the heart of it!No idea, but these grants should be tied to the land owner, to stop the above happening. There was a farm for sale recently in Ayrshire, the whole farm was for sale except the slurry tower as it had been grant funded recently and they would have to pay back the full grant if selling before X number of years.
The estate with the largest native woodland scheme up here was sold to a builder. He wanted to move the woodland on for some reason but would have had to pay back the grants £2m from memory as it could only be moved on once. You'd think any grant would be tied to the owner of the land, rather than a limited company. They might be better spending some time on making better beer!
