Hi, looking to buy a rear mounted sprayer and fert spinner.
We only have a small equestrian holding about 50 acres of grass for grazing and hay making.
Looking to buy a second hand sprayer and spinner.
What should I be looking to get ?
Size ?
New cheap or second hand ?
Many thanks in advance

Ive got a Vicon wagtail sitting in the yard with a 600L hopper. After £150 for it. will spread to 12 metres
This is what you need. And for sprayer a nice hardi 12m both will be cheap and amazingly good and capable. Perhaps a snobby thing to say but I don’t like those cheap nasty looking machines that you can get new I’d rather an older tidy but proven machine a vicon wagtail certainly is

Jarmet sprayers are built to a price, but work well enough for a small acreage, they do have more expensive and better specced machines, but for some thistle spraying, a basic 10/12m sprayer will suffice. I have a 10m machine for going on the Compact, and it's horrid compared to a better known machine, BUT, it is fine to use for 3 years then sell on and have another new one.... No MOT needed :)

The little spreaders are best avoided.... Got one here you can have, if close enough... Used to use it on a tiny compact for paddocks and also spreading salt. Get a wgatail...

You will need your PA1 and PA2 sprayer certificates if you want to run your own sprayer. That involves several days training and 2 exams. For small areas probably better to get a contractor in than have to mess about with all the legislation that goes with operating a sprayer.
Is this right even for spraying your own grassland or food for your own horses?

What tractor have you got?

In theory, a supplied of agrochems sould not supply a lot of products unless you are "a qualified person". Although what a qualified person is, I am unsure!!

My neighbour was buying some grass herbicide last year and because he did not have an account, the supplier was quite difficult.

Sold my last tractor Oct been looking but there's been a lack of decent choices. There are a few about , but just waiting to see what happens. My local guy has put a tender in for 2 ex council ones.
If he wins I'll have one of those, if not I'll have to take a jab at an unknown as nothing local currently.
Unfortunately need to upgrade everything been to tight with money and now it's costing me time which I don't have as the grassland isn't my primary source of income
