To save me going through all the threads could someone recommend a lightweight, cheap chainsaw I can buy online please. I have a Stihl 038 av but I want a wee saw I can take going fencing for cutting a branch. Something you bought and are happy with. Thanks

It sounds like you are wanting a battery powered one. I got a Stihl MSA 120C and I really like It. Very lightweight and was around £200 all in. If you want more power that that the price starts to go up quite sharply. If you already have batteries for other cordless appliances you could see if they manufacture chainsaws also.

got a 12in cordless makita, brilliant, at x4 the price of parker.

Ms172 or husqvarna 135 are good little saws for around £200. Lad ran my 172 over, so in the interim I bought a 16" bar for the ms361, its not very well balanced but cuts like a competition saw with the depth stops filed down, only a couple of minutes to change bars.

Milwaukee top handle (faster chain speed than rear handle) I was a doubter but now a total convert, brilliant saw for laying hedges, just pick up and put down! I use the 12amp battery which is quite heavy, you can use the lighter 8amp but make sure they are high output, normal ones can overheat.
I actually find the Husqvarna 540xp gets very little use since buying the Milwaukee.

Husqvarna 135, great wee saw, use it for fencing and anything else really, can’t fault it.

I second this, think I only paid £160 for mine that could have been 4 years ago though, only used occasionally for logging up boughs

I am not kind to mine, at all, and she keeps going. Paid about that for it but that’s a few years ago now too.

go on parker website, pretty well throw away, buy a new one price, if it goes wrong, or stolen, sub £100. And very good, for non professional use.
