Christmas trees this year

Looking to sell Christmas trees this year. Just wondered what everyone’s thoughts are on selling them this year with COVID. Will people be going out and buying them?
many thanks.
Have a good think about who else sells them in your area, there will be more than you think. Supermarkets, Wickes, B&Q, garden centres, etc.
If you are not in a convenient position or can offer something different such as PYO you will be disappointed.
But I think demand will be good, It just depends on local restrictions and whether folks can actually get out to buy them.

If it's any help, I went past a local pumpkin field last week, the car park was absolutely crammed and the field was heaving.

I would think most people would be more likely to spend out on a Christmas tree for home this year, as they'll be spending more time at home than going out.

I won't be though, I'll be sucking on a bag of humbugs as usual.

Not buying one. Was £50 last year. I like £50 more than a tree in my house. This will cause a certain level of strife, but it's my turn to do Christmas, so it's no tree, and no roast.

we don’t buy Xmas trees, just go and cut something down in the week before.
There was one year I’d been busy so we headed out on Xmas eve and it started pouring rain, I couldn’t be arsed with the whole thing so cut some broom out of a ditch and took it home instead.
Looked quite nice and didn’t drop any feckin needles

We don't particularly bother - if we feel particularly festive then we get the plastic one out of the loft. No stench of pine & no needles being traipse around the house. Currently torn between beef and lamb for Christmas lunch.

Crammed into hospital next with virus possibly??
Lockdown to some a joke allegedly?

Bought a realistic tree last year from John Lewis looks amazing - I found the stress of the tree was too much as we cut one down from uncles farm trouble was they were getting bigger and bigger every year husband dragging this monster in moaning and swearing chopping chunks off would give anyone a good laugh. My SIL pays £60 for a real tree and to be honest it looks utter sh@t (I cant bear flashing lights and a poorly decorated stumpy tree) I like to put it up about a week before and new years day its all down and place dusted. The artificial tree will pay for itself year after next. The kids have a tiny tree they put up in their bedroom Im sure its 25 years old.

Failure to cut a tree for Christmas six years ago led to the cancellation of our Christmas. Usually we cut a small acacia but the kids decided they were too old for that. My wife refused to get out of bed on Christmas morning and my daughter had to do the cooking when my wife did appear it was not a cheerful meal. Since then when asked to cut a tree we all volunteer and decorate it cheerfully although my wife is still known as the Vet who stole Christmas.

We also sell Christmas trees both wholesale & retail. We are hoping that people are more determined to celebrate the festival, given that it's about all we've got to look forward to this year! Family gatherings will have to be smaller, maximum of 6 depending on the local lockdown rules. What will this mean for tree sales? More but smaller, the same as the anticipated turkey demand???

What measures have you taken for Covid? We have a shop as well as the trees themselves so we've installed an extra pay point for the trees outside. That might mean less through the shop but big queues of folk are a no-no. We've considered click and collect or bookings for a set slot. We've even considered deliveries but that looks a nightmare for costs, vehicles & staffing. We just don't know how this will turn out! A local circuit breaker lockdown would be a serious restriction for us.

If they introduce either a national lockdown or a local circuit breaker lockdown ( both are a waste of time and cause more problems than they solve ) and they ban the sale of Xmas trees/ Xmas goods etc it will be the tipping point and people wont comply as everyone is already fed up with the situation now and if the Gov carry on like this much longer then they will lose control and which is already happening in many other country's.

How would Boris like to be remembered in the future? As the Prime Minister who cancelled Christmas? Nah. Didn’t think so.

I wouldn’t be surprised at a lockdown in the first few days of the New Year though.
