From an experience 5 years ago mole valleys steel posts were some shite tin foil post that bent and twisted while you tried to knock it in, a crap copy of Clipex, I could be wrong on this as it was a while ago
I've heard the first load of MV posts didn't have the correct level of galv to meet standard. 🙈 Be an expensive mistake.

To we honest I’ve no intention of buying wood from MV. I just don’t trust their stakes.

Im waiting on quotes from a couple other people I’ve used before.

I will update thread with all prices when I’ve got them.

Just priced up Creo posts on the McVeigh Parker web site vs Mole Valley Creo posts like for like.

There is a huge difference, MV at £6.70 per post vs McV P at £9.81 for 1650X90 posts.

Are the web prices on McV P real prices?

For the job I want to do the creo wood stakes work out at £1.7k inc wire with 3m spacing on posts.

MV's own steel stakes at 6m spacing comes to £1.3k but still with ceo strainers.

So if you consider the wood stakes would need a fair extra charge to bash in with a contractor the MV solution looks a lot cheaper.
You will get a better price over the phone from Mcveigh, their creo is top notch

Got a bit of fencing to do and tempted to try Clipex posts for a change. (Or the new offering from Mole Valley??)

Thinking about getting creosot strainers and maybe cut telegragh posts for any big bends knocked in by some one with a post basher.

And then clipex posts and wire by myself and at my leisure.

Any tips?

Not got much in he way of fencing tools other than a decent set of fence pliers and a manual wire puller.

I see there and some fancy wire tensioners and I will need stock net clamp.

Stuart Mills at McVeigh Parker's Devon branch would be the man to talk to and see if you can make a deal.
If you are after Creo from them, ask if it's UK treated by BBH/Scanpole, this will give confidence that it is genuine Creos and then do your own checks to see if it has good levels of sapwood penetration. It will probably be machined round timber,

I've heard great reports of stakes from bond timber, apparently 30 year expected life. Local contractor likes them

Bond timber are approved for treating timber to Highways Agency spec of a 30year desired life. The timber should come with a treatment certificate with your orde reference, pack No., quantities, dimensions etc for traceability. Whether the chemicals are up to the job is a different matter.

You might be able to get Bonds to sell you 30 year timber but whether they will stand any warranty I don't know.

Just to update this thread,

I have prices direct from Mc Veigh and through a third party

McVP:

Stand Post £8.68
100 XT8-80-22 XF 112.73
2400 150-175 Strainer (creo) 38.27

Buying group

Stand Post £8.00
100 XT8-80-22 XF 100.21
2400 150-175 Strainer (creo) 41.86

Ill double check the strainer prices as odd buying group does not get an advantage there...

We are thinking of the Clipex fencing system -lots of fencing to do and looking at the Easy petrol post driver - what are others experiences as I see other cheaper petrol post drivers available or wait until the ground dries up and go on with tractor and old post bumber, which is sometimes difficult to get into the right place to bump the post.

Buying group may not have enough members using the strainer to get a large discount. Many people use other strainer systems with the posts.
