We had this 10 plus years ago with our Land Rover 110 registration, except the vehicle description the Met police gave was a Disco. I sent a picture of the 110 double cab with an Ifor back on it and never heard from them again.

Got a parking ticket for our combine in Central London!

My son’s BMW was cloned and used for something criminal in Glasgow, a detective even came down from Scotland to check it out. Wouldn’t say what it had been used for, but guess it was serious

For what it's worth, this incident is for driving without due care & attention, failing to stop after an accident and failure to supply insurance details.

How serious that is, i cannot say

Around 1995 a friend of ours had a stream of tickets for his RR (a 1970's one) all from the SW. He denied them all and was facing serious court time for a mounting number of parking and traffic offences when the police in the SW stopped the offending vehicle and nabbed the culprit. It was the same make and colour but on false plates.

Had a 956xl ping a few speed cameras in London a few years ago 🥴 I knew it was a good tractor but not that good

Was going to say I think it was probably more widespread when you could easily get number plates made up. Well remember yonks ago our Ford 8240 getting cloned, speed cameras in central London.

So maybe the people cloning combine harvester and tractor plates are just being considerate as it seems its easier to prove it wasn't you than the lady in London mentioned by @Lincs Lass. Might be some good in them after all.

Many years ago our combine was reported as being involved in an armed robbery, local bobbie (I did say many years ago) came out to check if the rear plate had been stolen (it hadn't).

Update:

Avon & Somerset have come back to me.

Say that they have dashcam of a tractor & trailer causing alleged RTA.

Seeing as our tractor hasn't been off the Island since we bought it (admittedly from Michael Burdge of Yatton) in 2020 and was in pieces at the time of the offence, it's proving an interesting case.
We suspect that the previous owner has the plate on a trailer & forgotten to remove/change it and one of his jockeys caused the incident ... but that is speculation

Probably cameras on the Menai Bridge showing your tractor delivered onto the island, and not leaving since... (y):ROFLMAO:

Insurance companies don't do proper checks either, got a call saying your vehicle reg xxx had backed out of a parking space into another vehicle going past.

I told him it wasn't possible because the vehicle was parked up on that date due to the driver being on holiday, he said I had to prove it wasn't involved, I told him he had to prove it was.

I then asked him what model and colour was the offending vehicle, a blue 3 series BMW, I refused to tell him on the phone what our vehicle was, a red Vauxhall as it happens, he still wanted me to put in writing that it wasn't our vehicle, I just told him to do his own detective work if he needed more proof.

Surely when they checked the data base for your details he would have seen it was a different make, these companies dont have employ muppets
