Coping with this cold snap?

Don't be like me and fill the rotaspreader only to find it won't turn because the hammers are embedded in ice :banghead: 20 minutes with a fork and 10 with a pinch solved the problem and got a heat up
First load in the tanker 3.00am Monday morning had to take the blowtorch to the gate valves on the doors as all frozen then found out ball was frozen in trap as slurry came through pump and out exhaust. At least I was sure the first load was full to the top.

Some poached land with IRG was fit to travel on for a tickle of fert for a bit of early bite before burning off for a herbal ley I missed to get in last back end...

Muck tomorrow after flailing off some cover/game mix that has died off.

My well froze. Twice. Had to get the steamer out and pull the pipe out to make a drain hole farther down. Was draining to about 5’ down so still freezing, now it’s around 9’ down.

The one tonne died in the gate doing chores. Need to pull the battery and get a new one most likely.

Battery is also frozen in the Jeep so no heated seats for me:(

Mule arrived from BC early Sunday morning. Came from +5 to -35. He’s got almost as many blankets on as my friend puts on her horses in England.

Got magnet heaters on almost anything imaginable and reachable at work and still not running anything unless we have too.

Water trough at home is hanging in there although the ice build up is getting more and more every day.

Looks like Monday is the light at the end of the tunnel. Unless that changes...

The plus side is that my 10 yr old comes and drives the tractor through the gates that are tricky to open with the snow drifts each morning, and the views are scenic .
Down side is everything else. Thawing out pipes, hauling water etc. But better not moan too much, don’t want @Blaithin thinking were are all pansies :ROFLMAO: View attachment 940490
Too late 🤐

But it’s a dry cold here. -50 can’t be any worse than -5.

Even if the thermometer says different. And the water. And the barn owls....

Bet the new Mule is wondering what the heck he/she did wrong to now live in a freezer !
Are you going to use it to pull a cart , or just a pet ?
He’s a friends. She just moved back to AB and he’s at my place as a pit stop. He’s from AB so it’s not unknown weather to him, he’s just not quite primed for this kind of temperature this winter
