cows showing strong long heats

Generally I find most cows show good heats, and are acting on regularly for 8hrs plus. Usually I serve them the following milking. Yesterday there was 3 bulling in the morning so I served them last night. 2 of them are still standing this morning. What would others do? Serve them again?

We always end up double serving between 5-10% of the cows I deal with.

If she's still standing then crack on. Semen deficiency can kill a cow.

yep, 70% held to 1st service, 99 to calve in 4 weeks, and thats enough.

We have one doing the same and the vet suggested she may be cystic. Just a guess.

Surely if you have 100 cows and submission is 90% you serve 90 and 60% hold then that gives you a preg rate of 54%?
