Culls with foreign eartags.

So now 85% of our cows have foreign eartags any ideas how to get the most for them once we have finished with them.

Nice Fleckvieh x’s so should be worth a lot but everywhere you look they just want to rob them.

last one we put in the freezer a few months ago. On the whole it’s been good but sirloins we’re perhaps a bit supermarket like. Acceptable but certainly not the best steak I’ve ever had.

biggest downside was the £550 slaughter and butchering|bagging fees!

Anyone think outside the box or got any suggestions?

Maybe I should just take what I’m given and be happy they’ve hopefully done me well and paid for themselves several times over, but you can’t help feeling miffed when a better than average cull gets hammered just because of her tag.

Came across cig calon cymru today. Don't know what there penalty is.

Just looked on website no penalty for non uk. 325 base today.

Have you tried the lorries heading up the M5 weekly to Pickstocks, Woollies etc?
At least three leave the SW every week, as prices for cull cows / bulls are vastly different. The big abattoirs have a stranglehold in our area. Or so they think.

Haste and Knight would be the first two i'd try but can't say any more spring to mind.
