Tonight's dog walk took us to the Iron Age hill-fort at Badbury Rings.The view to the North is across the old Tarrant Rushton airfield. From here, the Horsa gliders were towed over the Channel with the first troops to set foot in occupied Europe at Pegasus Bridge

The V bombers were operated out of there as a secondary airfield for a long time, too. No one in the valley or locality could fail to notice when they did because of the noise.

This morning we visited ranville cemetery, with help from a team of school children that we brought over from the uk we laid a rose on every grave (2500) . We are now on the way to the bateaux cemetery where we will do the same (4500) and carry out a short service . The level of respect being shown by everyone is unbelievable .

My Brother took the day off and is up at Duxford today. Apparently there are 35 Dakotas being amassed and there will be a celebratory flight today. Should be quite a sight

A visit to Pegasus Bridge will make the event feel very real indeed.

Yes my Grandad Loveluck was there and I once had the privilege of meeting Major John Howard his CO at Mme Gonville's Cafe

You have no idea what this all meant until you stand at one end of a metal swing bridge and realise you have to run across it under enemy gunfire

The original bridge is in the museum next the the canal . The new bridge is the same just bigger .
