7 ecoli mastitis cases this weekend soul destroying all high flying cows now just salvage cases try and keep them alive , to make it worse I have no idea why

Dead twins last night,cow not due for a month.

New calved cows seem to be suffering from ketosis.

Always something.

Left the house at 4 this morning and finally finished at 10pm. I made it home for an hour at 6 for kids bath and bath and bed time, other than that out on my feet all day and yesterday was the same. Too many cows, too many calves, too few people. Cows and calves all in good health and all staff back tomorrow morning though.

Ecoli is environmental, do you put lime on beds?
I’ve unusualy had a few this winter, all of them 50 litre cows.

A 50 litre cow is under fair pressure putting out that volume of milk so are they therefore more susceptible to bugs and virus?

Yeah Monday Wednesday Friday, beds very clean, All the cows are alive a couple might milk again , just bad luck I hope

Check the vacuum regulator. Ours got slightly blocked this can cause problems and the vacuum gauge was reading correctly

You surely have a manual gauge somewhere on the parlour?

In the vacuum line somewhere. Usually nearer to the vac pump. The bit of dirt in ours must have made subtle changes which upset some cows usually the higher yielding ones but didn’t see much difference on the gauge. Worth a look at any way

Yeah there’s 2 one after vaccume pump, and one on reserve on top of parlour

What’s your cell count run at @Thomas-milmain ? I accidentally put a fresh ecoli case in the tank bactoscan and cell count shot up that day, kept her out and bacto and cell back down, I’m certain it was the ecoli that caused the high bacto

I liked that but it does not really deserve a like.
It must be heartbreaking. It's definitely devastating financially, especially given your new venture.
