It makes a decent job in good ploughing land, with the UCN bodies. Certainly cheap enough.

You said it was a pile of shite, they weren't that bad, they just didn't quite seem to pull in a nice equilibrium somehow.

In our shallow soils the ucn boards do a good job without going too deep, and a dp7 d2 was perfectly good at pulling them along. The big problem on flinty soil is the amount of time changing metal, so something with knock on tungsten points and hard wearing wings would be preferable to reduce downtime.

A standard later DP7 with rear mounted turnover ram is not very operator friendly in terms of fine tuning, eg; the front furrow width adjustment doesn't move the plough across the headstock, it tinkers with the alignment. They are nonetheless fairly bombproof if unabused.
Mine is a long clearance 4f 14", and the IH 956 2wd I had would not boss it.
Are you saying the front mounted turn over ram models have better front furrow adjustment?

Not really too flinty around here. But understand your ‘point’ 🙂

The front furrow looks along way back - is that distance normal from the headstock ? 🙂

It is a long clearance version, with room for full set of discs, which is probably as long as a 5 furrow std one. You can see one of the turnover stops in the previous photo, the bolt head behind the headstock.
The older standard dp7 with the front mounted ram, was shorter to the extent that the front disc when fitted was really close to the headstock.
I'm sorry I don't know about ffw adjuster on previous model.

That looks a very nice set up.

that’s makes sense. We’re the long clearance versions given a mother number or letter in the model number ?
