Also tbh im a bit partial to a quarter pounder with cheese  every now and then if we are passing the drive through.

Mrs NeilO and myself were away down South last week and had 30 minutes or so spare to stop for a pee and grab a quick bite. Being a big spender, and always happy to spoil my lovely wife, I treated her to a McDonalds.

I know, I know, I really shouldn’t have. We both agreed it was a useful reminder as to why we never eat a McTurgid burger any more.🤢

Anyway, about these nurses on prescription… We have free scrips in Wales too.👍

McDonalds do a lot for the farmers in countries they sell. Nothing wrong with their food either, you're just not supposed to eat too much of it.
They're a very well run business, my only knock on them is they use organic milk for some things.

I like the quarter pounder with cheese particularly, even the sliced gherkin's

but quite apart from that i never run down any food at all thats put in front of me, i dont waste any of it either , thats the way i was brought up,the wife is the same.
Spoilt children and adults with too much money they do ive noticed over the years ,well they don't respect all food it seems :(

Hiya Farmers,
as you can see from the name were eaters not farmers. We grow a bit of veg and keep a couple of hens an bees in our back garden.
Just wanted to say many thanks for feeding us this year! Yumyum!
Much appreciated! 🤩
The Scousers😀
Many thanks, I've seen posts that say thank a farmer etc followed by a lot of negative stuff by the usual suspects. In reality we are just doing a job we love and no comment is necessary but when you see the negative comments for no reason it's lovely to see an unprompted post showing appreciation.

how much of your Christmas food was UK origin ?
Hiya Clive, we saved some spuds and 2 carrots and some sprouts from what we grew in the summer and we had a uk produced chicken. Milk and butter from Delamere, cheese from Garstang. I made some mince pies (uk flour and butter, mincemeat?) I assume that uk farmers produce our wheat and oats for bread and porridge!

a lot of wheat is imported - for both milling
and animal feed

not the not the most environmentally friendly practice but sometimes necessary

look out of country of origin on packaging when ever possible and support uk agriculture with its world leading welfare and environmental standard’s

don’t be fooled by the Red Tractor logo however - its rather meaningless !

Thanks for the info Clive. I thought uk was pretty much self sufficient in wheat/ grains and it didnt occur to me to check if it was uk feed to the animals. Doh! Weve learned a lot from reading the posts and comments on here. Cheers!🤩

sadly they are not helping our NHS much !

covid had nothing on the diabetes epidemic that’s coming

Hmm, the nutritional information is there on the packaging for all to see - it’s hardly Mac Donald’s fault people choose to ignore it.

On a more serious note, it’s not that many years ago that GP’s were paid £50 for every diabetes diagnosis - little wonder there is a ‘diabetes pandemic looming’. Then there is also the beta blocker issue, these have been prescribed ‘ham sam’ by GP’s for blood pressure issues, anxiety and many other things. What’s the side effect of beta blockers? Diabetes.

If the NHS wants to attack the food industry about diabetes, it should hold its hand up first and admit its own culpability.

I've seen vegans blaming meat for diabetes but presumed it was nonsense, are they linked or is it just that junk food equals obesity?
I always thought sugar and carbs were to blame.
Sugar and carbs were the two I cut down on after being diagnosed diabetic with the result that at the next meeting with the doctor he said that if I hadn’t already been diagnosed diabetic they wouldn’t diagnose me at that point, they cut my medication but I’m still on their radar for annual check ups.

Had I needed to cut back on meat I’d have been fekked, probably dead by now 😂😂😂

My sugar levels were slightly higher than they should be and I get an annual check but been ok since. I did cut down on sugary drinks etc but not had to do anything too drastic.
