Flatbed Trailer.... Bateson?

We'll be using the trailer like an multi use trailer so will be hauling heavy now and then,

Graham Edwards was the trailer I wanted as I've heard only good about them but like I said we need the trailer to have the metal sides on the floor for towing vehicles etc,

Ideally looking for the best trailer out there that's robust and strong, well pay good money for an trailer if it's worth ir!

Thank you
Why dont you ring shaun at edwards ,and ask him 07882299385

Graham Edwards are great, I have had two now and had a lot of weight on, never a problem. Only thing I found with the 1st is it bounced a bit when empty but had shock absorbers on the new one and it’s perfect

I've got a Graham Edwards, farm bought it new in 04. I bought it of the farm 5 years ago. I dread to think of the miles its done but its been a fantastic trailer. Doesn't get a particularly easy life either.

Not true. Been running them near daily for 10 years with plenty of abuse. Never had an issue with axles.
Best trailers on market for my money
Are you taking the p1ss?
It’s a known problem that the square insert in the indespension unit bends, the 1st thing anyone in the know does is look at the axles,it’s always the front one bends 1st.
I definitely won’t be having anything with Indespension axles again.

Yes I've bent that said part when I hit a kerb at speed with a full load. Totally my fault. Would've damaged any trailer.
my trailers do 15-20k miles a year and never had an axle issue

What type of axles do you recommend?

What trailer do you use or would you use?

We want to get an new flatbed trailer, and we are currently looking at what options there are, really do like the Bateson PT56 16ft X 7ft Tri axle Trailer, has anyone had any experience with an bateson flatbed?

How do they compare to Nugent, Brian James etc?

What are the pros and cons of these flatbeds?

We are aware that there's an long lead time on new trailers currently so ideally Just wanting to get one ordered

Trailer will be used general use, hauling square bales, Logs, vehicles, ideallu wanting the sides and rear ramp to be easily removed if needed,

Because vehicles will sometimes be carried on the trailer, the sides of the flatbed floor must be made out of steel

If anyone has an PT56 for sale we might be keen,

Here's an photo of the PT56 Trailer,

Thank you
Now Then..
We've run Bateson trailers at work for over 30 years. They used to build them as a special order with the C section steel around the sides with the opening to the outside. We could then put loading ramps on the sides to load quads and such cross way. Other than some cracks or the odd axle suspension failure, we have no problems. Galvanising is good, none are rusty. We currently run about 6. The older flat ones are a bit of age but since type approval they can't turn the C section.
We have 2 tandem axle trailers like the one in the picture at 14' which also work well. One of them works 4 days a week all over the county .
Any problems we have are generally from misuse or overloading etc.. I think any trailer would suffer similarly..

I have a pt66 ,18 x 7, I looked at quite a few different makes and decided on the bateson, I thought they had some good features including the fact that all three axles stayed on the ground whilst the bed is tilted so you are not overloading the rear axle when loading heavy items, very pleased with mine and I haven't had any problems.

How long have you had you're trailer for and do you use the trailer heavily? Thank you

I had the last one 3 years and sold it and got a new one this summer and I would describe it's use as sporadic but can when in use will do a lot of miles and can be loaded up to maximum weight and possibly beyond, and as I said no issues not even a puncture,a very well made trailer and a good company to deal with

Thank you for you're responses, we've narrowed ir down to Brian James or Bateson

The Bateson costs less,
I rather the look of the Bateson,

But with Brian James their Sides are tensioned so that would reduce any rattling noise etc....

Bateson use Lynch clips,

Are batesons noisy on the road?

Bateson have more hooking on points on the flat part of the deck.... Does bateson have any hook on points underneath like Brian James does?

Thank you

You might want to look at delivery times if you're going new. That may well sway your decision

So if the Bateson doesent rattle we would happily go for an bateson, Just thinking if ir would be any good with lynch clips etc,

The delivery time doesn't matter as long as it's nothing over 1 year Just wanting to get one ordered Ideally,

@grainboy we have seen the hook holes in the side rails on the Bateson but does ir have an place underneath to hook onto like the lip of the side rails etc? Because if you had the sides on you wouldn't be able to use the side rail hook holes,

Cheers
