Getting concerned

My unmoved stubbles have puddles on them now, and another dollop to go. Those that had the terrano through them will go with patience sometime before Christmas. If we can't get two or three days drilling in between now and then, then the whole of clayland Lincolnshire will be in trouble.

Just highlights how different soils need different management - the only moved soil I have at the moment is a block carrierd and rolled after biosolids and compost application - despite being light soil it would need a week of dry to be fit to drill now - the unmoved stubbles would all go tomorrow if I really wanted to though

Been on ploughing and combi'ing ley ground into wheat. For once, turning up moist, rather than needing battered down for a week. It might roll in the morning.

On the flip side, stubbles that were drilled last weekend are partly rolled, having been blocked out by sticky headlands, which have now evolved into the final course of dinner. Sprayed a field last night; closed eyes as went past it this morning.

Guessing the unmoved stuff is fairly light though as well?

I’m glad the potatoes are out of the ground , although the field now has some lakes on it.
Maize harvest hasn’t really started around here yet. Hopefully it’ll dry up before then or else there’s going to be some mud on the lanes

From reading the responses here it seems as always that if you have good draining soil then there is no worry , just a bit of patience

But I still stand by my first post , with only 2 dry days forecast in the next 14 I'm still concerned , modged in barley and wheat on this land never does well

But looking at it from another angle , with what I have in the grain stores from this harvest would be greater than the sum total of 2012 and 2013 put together

All fields unmoved here.....tried a bit this afternoon and it went well, until the next set of 3-4 showers arrived!

Two dry days together and we’d be going though but even that isn’t looking likely.

Has someone still got a combine out or something...? This is harvest weather!
Are you direct drilling this year?

How much to you hope to plough a day with that rig? I'm guessing you are clipping along?
As much as i can!!!! It depends how much other buggering about I have to do with pigs/kids etc.

The flexicoil is 6ft and I always like to take a full width If possible, I draw along up hill and down dale at 8 km/h all day long so I recon between 2.5-3 acre hour on decent longish going.

Trouble is Robbie you burn the metal away fast , 6/7 k in some fields and points burn you with the flint
