Cant be that much on a ring fenced farm
No, maybe not. But a second combine would then need another tractor and trailer possibly, and drivers. I know the cost of the fuel has increased, but so too has machinery and every other cost so I'd be interested to know if the economics of drying has altered enough to throw another combine into the system.

Why not?
Surely if the whole point of running extra capacity to only harvest when the crop is dry, why would you hamper and slow the operation by doing twice as many moves more than you need to?
Because two combines equals two moves.
I suppose if you run them separately then you'd cut down movements, but then you'd need more tractors and trailers. I've seen it done when I helped my neighbours with harvest, two combines run separately was a lot more complicated than two together.

You want a big farm with 30ft gateways, combines just treat the whole farm as one field
