Grammer seat repairs.

One of our air seats is showing some wear in the rollers, so has some play in the suspension, not bad, but wants sorting. Reading posts on here , it looks like it is a job for someone who specialises in doing the job. Anyone know of such a person?

If it just needs the rollers replaced and non of the shafts or runners are worn it’s not too bad but, you do need too be remotely competent with a spanner!
Also chances are if it’s just a tiny bit of play it will only need the top rollers replaced.
Just take a few pictures of how the pipes and cables are routed before removing the cable ties as they can easily get cut or chafed if they don’t go back right.

Thanks Phil, I read some of your earlier posts on the subject which is why I think I better send it away to be done. Could always drop it off with you, only the other side the mersey 😁

Can you actually get parts for them?
Had a poke around once…only thing that they would part with was the complete base.
Yes you can get a roller kit, comes with all the rollers, shims, clips and rivets to do the job. Think the last one I had was around £90-100. If any of the main components are damaged though it gets really expensive fast! If it’s anything other than rollers it’s usually more cost effective to replace the whole seat.

I had a compressor fail on the one troublesome example I have. Unfortunately the switch failed about a year later and the airbag burst as a result. There was a lot of wear on the rollers so it was indeed probably cheaper to buy the new base, counting labour for the repair, and it was in the harvest season so time was important. So that’s what I did and have zero regrets. I didn’t realise beforehand just how worn the old base was with the back and forth damper failed and the up and down damper also failed causing more bounce [and roller wear]. Less sophisticated models on my other tractors have never been the slightest bother and never needed any repairs. That one troublesome seat had many repairs over the years, a proper Friday afternoon unit and a metaphorical pain in the arse [and wallet]. I’m well rid of it.

How much is a new generic air seat without the tractor brand name printed on it
