HM TRAILERS

Has any one got any views on hm trailers?
We hire in 2x18t trailers each year so they're either new or nearly new. We like them a lot, build quality seems very good, paint was good, we've never had any issues with one. If we were in the market to buy one we would likely go HM as they're only down the road from us. Not sure exactly how they describe there trailers but the usual ones we have are quite a short wheelbase and quite high sided to make a short trailer good for tipping in low sheds. These can be tricky for less experienced drivers to get used to reversing. We found last year though that they do a lower sided, longer model more like a lot of other manufacturers do, which we preferred overall.

I’ve got 2 16t, next door have 2 16t, I know of another 3 in the area.
Ride well, tip in low sheds, have good rear door closing ( no leaks, even linseed can’t get out), we find them easy to reverse, good trailers.
So far we’ve never had a problem with either of ours, the oldest is 10 years old.

The colour isn't great. We had this conversation at home that it wouldn't match the other trailers in the fleet I pointed out we have blue orange red and green! They didn't say much🤣

We hired an 18t last year for harvest. Excellent trailer and would buy one over our Stewart trailers. Quite basic and higher than most trailers but tips really well in low buildings.

We have a 20t HM, it's great. Rides very well. Get them to paint it a different colour if you need it to match, ours is yellow to go with a fastrac.

I also rate A W Trailers highly.

We hired on about 10 years ago. Was very happy with it. They were designed to tip in low sheds. Hinge point much closer to rear axle than most designs so back of body lowers when being tipped. Potentially not ideal for things other than grain.

Where do you start? “Sorry sir your trailer will be put back again because we have a more important client who wants his trailers for harvest” the culmination of my experience was when the ram parted company with the body when fully tipped due to the way it was built. The most communication I got on the subject was after I put a post up on here demanding I shut up, I could go on.

If I want anything “trailer“ now i go to philip Watkins, the man's a total gent with a level of human decency others (they know they are) can only dream of. The product is built well and to what I want, with everyone that uses it saying how well it tows. 4x trailers in the last 3 years and 2 more on order. I suspect if there was an issue it would be dealt with swiftly.
I try and think of my HM experience as character building for both parties, even my insurance couldn’t make any sense of them as they didn’t want to know about fixing it.
It went back to the ram supplier who were not surprised given the corners that had been cut. I could say how good they are with paint but the same could be said of Rolf Harris.

We have HM trailers and can't fault them, The paints as new!, the door shuts nice and tight and ours is ten years old! My neighbour has a HM hook loader and he's never had a problem with his, and if anyone could test build quality and design this chaps drivers could!
