Has anyone ever had overload motor 1 come on the box while drilling. Its a muller drill manager ME box. Have drilled 70 acres wheat, started off fine then after about 2 hours that message appeared and wouldn't go off the screen. Spoke to a chap who came and fitted a new motor after we emptied the hopper to check for blockages. started the next day it was fine, after about 2 hours the same message started to appear intermittently but disappeared every time we stopped to check the drill. Must have done it 20 times. I've since emptied the hopper again, no blockages, the flap and the roller bearing appear fine. God knows what the field will look like. Lost for ideas of what to do now, has anyone had problems with the box before? Its a 2007/8 drill cant remember which. Any ideas much appreciated otherwise it will end up being swapped for a vaderstad. Cheers

Just needs new bearings in they will be full of dressing dust or fert , if worst and you car the get any nock outside seal off and free up with wd40 and pack with grease and put seal back on used to clean them out at end of season , motor will be fine only replaced one in 10 years , bearings are a common size , could be wrong but used to work for ours

I’m not familiar with your actual drill but on our sprinter if the motor is turning too fast or slow it will overload the motor. Can you change the rollers on yours?

Like written in earlier posts, first check bearings on metering unit. Then connectors, from tractor battery to VDO-motor.
If you are not new with machine,I think you have all basics checked:metering unit rpm, enough fan speed(no blockages in/under metering unit).
Did you compare amperes, first 2 hours/when you get overload alarm?

We are using the correct roller for wheat, the seed rate is 210kg/ha and forward speed has been anywhere from 6kph to 12kph, nearer 6kph when it starts going wrong although speed seems to make little difference. Fan speed is around 3200 to 3300. No blockages as have emptied the drill twice to check. I'm not drilling but told that the amperes are between 4 and 7? Will check the bearings this morning and then see if I can find a loose connection. Thankyou

Personally I’d have a word with the guys at Horsch, normally very helpful and will sort you out over the phone. Could be something simple being over looked.

If you can turn the metering wheel with the r clip at the opposite side of the motor With you finger and thumb and it’s not stiff then I would say it’s an electrical/motor problem. Ours runs at 1.5 to 4 amp. Got the rubber strip too tight once and it was running 7 to 9 amp for a few hour but never flashed any warnings.

Spoke to a horsch chap while drilling, told to check for blockages, motor and bearing. Nice chap but still happening.

As you’ve started speaking to them I’d give them a call back and explain what you’ve done and not found, perhaps they can give you some more pointers or things to try

Fan speed as far as I'm aware isn't an issue if anything we keep having to turn it down on the tractor to get it well below 3500. Got a horsch chap coming to look at it tomorrow so cross fingers he can find the issue. Also ordered a new bearing just to make doubly sure.
