I've reached the conclusion you're better off weighing in S/H machinery at the local scrap yard now.
Life's too short.
Agree, had a whole host of stuff to sell last year in the 500-2000 bracket, just wasn’t worth the time and hassle so weighed it in.
i had a £300 autocast for sale A while ago. One person came three times to look at it, over 150 miles and still couldn’t decide if they wanted it. It was ludicrous. I binned it in the end. So much time wasted.

It gets more amusing when you look closely, the cheque paper is almost card. Posted two days before the cheque was printed and sent before the ink had dried so had a perfect imprint of the cheque on the inside of the envelope 😂😂😂

We had something similar - French missionaries on leave from the Congo wanted to stay in our holiday let and sent a cheque for 3 times too much... At least you have to give them credit for imagination! Quick phone call to the London office of their French bank exposed the scam. Apparently it's because UK banks have some sort of legal deadline to clear cheques within 3 days the money has to appear in your account long before the cheque really clears. At least that's what the man from Credit Agricole said...

Was it Charles Ziola by any chance 😂 he emailed me about everything I've got for sale on TFF, I ignored him in the end

I got a letter the other day, saying my Russian overlord relative Martyn Driver had died invading Ukraine and I was inheriting 98 million quid.
I was adopted, so I always have a slight hint of hope in these things. Although I don’t think I am the barsteward child of Congolese warlord which was another offer I had last year.

You`ve wealthy relatives dotted all around the world...:D

Isn’t there a section of cleared and uncleared funds on your online banking screen. I presume once a cheque is cleared/ legitimised ,it goes into the cleared section and the money is then yours, before that it is pending.

I'm not suggesting scraping a 2 year old John Deere 6250r...........although........ :ROFLMAO:
But, for sub £500 stuff, it ain't worth the hassle of long distance selling. Measuring to see if it'll fit in a Transit van.....wanting account numbers to pay by BACS, wanting to pay in Bitcoin.......
The price of scrap metal recently, it's the best option. Stuff always gets carved up before binning it though. Surprising how much ££££ you can get off something in box section, chains, bearings, PTO shafts etc.

Why does ANYONE still use cheques ?

that’s my biggest question

direct eft transfer into your account

once it’s in, it’s in 👍

I literally can’t remember the last time I banked a cheque or wrote a cheque 🤷‍♂️
You ask why any one uses cheques , here’s one example if you need a a V5 registration document form dvla and you haven’t had one for that machine before you need to pay DVLA Swansea £25 and there is no option that I can see of doing a bank transfer or card payment and you can’t send cash or Guinea pigs for the payment so only leaves cheques
