How hardy are easycare sheep?

Just wondering if people are running easycares on hill farms quite high above sea level?
I know they are supposed to be quite a self sufficient animal but would they do on a hill farm? I’m not talking like a moor or anything but like rough allotment land etc

When we were selling to pubs they rated it alongside black Welsh and better than most commercial breeds, possibly a factor of the old herby meadows they were grazing?

We run them on exposed land at over 1000ft. The late Dai Evans from Aberystwyth used to run them on mountain land far higher than that.

Doing well this year, the dry weather helped as the ground is very wet, I rotational graze which helps to , but there still easy care lambs , not great on the eye,

I think he graded them up from Welsh and kept a hardier type of Easycare

Next year stick a good blocky Charlie Ram on them , great sheep

We are about 600ft but exposed and near the coast on pretty thin soil and they do fine. I would think they would do just fine on the land you describe @Joe984, particularly if you breed your own replacements and keep what performs there.

This was my second year lambing easycares outdoors , very impressed, lambs falling out of them, Horizontally rain and snow didn't seem to take a flinch out of them, lambs sold live through the ring last year , about 2 or 3 pound behind the likes of a texel or charlie lamb,

A few years ago we had a few mastitis problems with Easycares in cold weather (no wool on their bags) but otherwise good. As previously mentioned the Charollais X lambs are good.
