How many bales high can you stack round bale grass silage ?

Storage space limited this year so would like to go higher. Can you go too high and put too much pressure on the bottom bales making them squash and split perhaps ???

How quick do you use them??

I stack single as i may need to carey over...if ripping through them three high be no dramas.

Hopefully get them all used up by the end of the winter. 4 high last year but have a bigger loader this year so reach isn’t a limiting factor so much.

For sure but always make stacks pyramid shape and take the highest first.

Read the wrap package, as it normally says don't stack them more than 3 high.

Used to go 4 high no bother, now just go to 3 but only because we’ve more space and were struggling for reach to go higher seen some folk going 5/6 high

UK gov. HSE dictate if it's dry silage you can go 3 high - stacked on their round side. No higher.

If wetter grass, 2 high is recommended.

chap killed last year, by a bale falling on him, took several days to find him, only a shoe sticking out.

If you bring in each tier, say a quarter of a bale in at the back every time, to make a step effect, and finish at the front the same, and obviously the sides come in one every time, and always take the highest bale down first when you start using them,I can’t see how anything can suddenly fall to make a danger.

Stack 6 round bales high but uprigth, the roof pinches them in nicely, 4 uprigth is nice.
