Hello,

Can anyone tell me how much a 1 acre market garden would expect to spend on seeds in 1 year (roughly without going into detail about what is being grown etc)?

Thanks everyone.

Question is impossible to answer, far too vague. Going by our veg garden, seeds are far from the only cost, and prices for seeds can vary widely depending on variety, quantity, supplier etc.
Oh, and by the way, I don’t have an acre of land to sell, rent, lend, borrow or give away either.

About £3000 for intensively cropped, three crops every two years, ground growing a wide range of crops making full use of intercropping, catch cropping and successional cropping in skilled hands and ample labour. Half that for run of the mill cropping.

Thank you very much for your replies. I had thought maybe it would be around 3000 for a mix of traditional vegetables and more "greens" like cabbages and lettuce etc.

On a different note - is insurance for a market garden business expensive?
