Hustler chainless

Looking at getting some kind of bedder for the winter. Does anyone use one of these for the job? Don't need something with a blower as have to drive in most courts anyway just want something to help with rolling out/handling squares of straw which I'm hoping to move too. I'm thinking handy to buffer feed outside too

Brilliant bits of kit that will handle any type of bale but fairly expensive for such a basic machine, one on a telehandler is on my wish list.

I sold Hustler bale un-rollers In my previous role, they are expensive but they are the only one that rely works. I had part exchange SL350 traded back in and they sold straight away within a few days. I would speak to your local dealer for a demo of the machine to suit your needs. 10/10 times after I did the demo the machine stoped on the farm. If you need more advice speak to Guy Machinery

Well managed to pick up one of these. Seems very good for rounds but tried a hesston on it today. Disaster! Whole flakes just getting dumped off and can only fit 2/3rds of the bale on the tray. Any tips?

Did you buy the extension for the chainless model ? If not you will need it to use Heston bales, the supplying dealer should of advised on purchase

Just picked one up second hand. Presume extension can be made/retrofitted though. I was just wondering how well it would break up the wedges? Presumably the better the straw the better it will break it up

I suppose you could make it if you have a patten, if not ring Guy Machinery for a price of the extension, it might not be to expensive

it won’t break up the wedges any better, however it will hold the bale together.

Presume you have to fork out a fair bit? or do cattle spread it well enough?
Sorry for the late reply, just spotted your question. It doesn’t dump it in big lumps & cows spread it about fine.

The cows do the spreading!! It’s spread a lot better and easier than unrolling by hand, especially as the bales just collapse in 10 feet nowadays.
And it didn’t cost me anything as I already have it for unrolling silage bales.

Well it might meet your standards but it doesn’t meet mine. Each to their own 👍

Yes just unrolling mode, the spreading attachment is mega money plus another hyd service etc.

5 minutes of the cows pottering about and it’s spread about just as well as if by a Lucas/Kuhn/mchale or whatever. No extra tractor required, no extra machine
Or depreciation, no stones thrown at 60mph, no injured cows etc etc and the straw isn’t smashed to smithereens so lasts longer 🤷‍♂️

We just break up a bit two round bales and drop them at each end of the yard and let the cows do it. They are like kids at Christmas, even the old ones.
