IAE AG gates (extending ones)

I was told last week, by my local IAE stockist, that they had some new 'extending' gates and panels in stock (see bottom), and he thought they would be of interest to me. He's right, they are, and I'll go over and have a look at them soon. I don't know the prices yet, or the build quality, but the idea is a good one, they are modular, the panels / hurdles and gates using the same fittings.

Does anyone on here have some of these already, if so, are they any good? Thanks in advance.

+1 for jourdain stuff, really well built, very heavy! Normally can get it quick, 2-3 weeks. And it’s universal, if a certain set up doesn’t work you can set it up another way (within reason)

We have them at work. First out the factory. The idea is that IAE now no longer make one off gates. Its these or nothing.
They are well built with some serious steel in them.
Quite fiddly to put together. Latches are finger trappers.
Couldn't tell you the price as I don't know what bossman paid.

Yep, I've had a few odd-length gates made over the years and it was only a few quid on top of the normal price; I had a one-off hurdle made last year and it came back - after a very long wait - at double the normal price, not sure if this was because of Covid, or them making it quickly and charging me a storage fee!

Anyway, because of the way some of the sheds are here, even a new lean-to on them has to have odd distances between uprights so as to fit with existing ones, so these may work well here.

@Forever Fendt are these competition for yours, or mere imitations?

Roof on a silage pit and fitted out for cattle required odd sized gates back in December 18.
The waiting list for custom made then was something silly like 19 weeks, so it wasn't worth bothering with.

Enquired about them this autumn to be told they don't do them now as they're concentrating on these. Don't need welders for making these, they go on a jig and are robot welded. 14 welders made redundant in autumn, I heard most of them signed straight on at Batemans.

Once there together they are easy to adjust. Like I say they are very heavy. Latches are a little awkward to use and could become something for cattle to chew on as the yellow handles are plastic, and where the top and bottom rails slide in, thats a plastic 'bush' which i suppose cattle could chew if they really bored. Some of the galvanising isn't perfect.

IAE stuff is well made but in general there is less metal on them now than there was 15 or so years ago.I have several of the tall cattle hurdles here bought in 2 batches 5 years apart, the earlier made ones are at least 50% heavier than the newer ones.

They are all fine till you slightly bend the gate by cattle scratching on them on catch it with machinery and then the gate and it’s no longer adjustable, can’t see them being as heavy as jourdain, don’t know what they are cost wise.

I agree however jourdain don't seem to bend, although I will probably find a banana shaped one in the morning now 🙄. We have them between stock bulls, in all our yards and even a large one in a forcing pen on our race system and they all work as they should still sliding in and out.

We bought 2 IAE rectangular sheep hay feeders before Christmas & I was disappointed - I contacted them on messenger and have yet to receive a reply
They bolt together to make 2 L shapes, which you then connect with 2 drop in rods
The rods didn't drop in, they had to be hammered in whilst using a pry bar to line things up - poor design in my opinion

Iae are decking useless that extendable gate Is £330 😬😧 so I bought a slightly bigger gate for £70 and I will cut it down to size @IAE you are pee poor
Ouch, don’t think I paid that much more for my jourdain self locking yokes and there’s some steel in that, 60mm tube. Can’t see them flying off the shelf at that price.

A bit difficult to comment without looking like I am are running someone else product down but they obviously thought a good idea is worth copying and imitation is a sincere form of flattery ,All I can say is I have supplied 100s of customers Jourdain equipment over the years with lots of repeat business and all new customers to the brand have been extremely pleased with them when its been delivered and many re order within a short space of time and most send pictures through when its been fitted so they must be pleased. So as before we are available 24/7 for anyone who wants advice and prices and you only have to deal with one person from start to finish and get a keen quote first time without any messing about as I am sure people on here who we have supplied would agree so quality and service will hopefully prevail
