Livid here. Brand new bunded fuel station was getting empty so ordered more.

Ordered a bit under what it can hold as there was a drop in the bottom.

Driver rocks up with out calling, I tell him where to go, warn him there is a drop in the bottom so should be ok but keep an eye.

Saw him leave later, thought nothing of it.

Walked in to shed few hours later and THAT smell hits me, heā€™s delivered more than ordered, itā€™s come out the top and covered the controls, walls, internal working and now a few inches in the bund seeping into the delivery pipe.

I would have expected him at least to come and tell me but nothing. Iā€™m fuming.

Supplier rang to apologise and investigating.

What to do? Itā€™s derv so when ever I fill up Iā€™ll just smell of the stuff after, even with gloves on. Means I canā€™t fill up and drive off with out going to wash first.

3rd world problems but not what I expect, especially with one of the few new things on the place!

Of no help at all, but a delivery driver managed to blow up our 4000l plastic adblue tank, overfilled it plus the vent was somewhat crystallised so built up quite a pressure and split the inner tank. Never thought to mention it and just buggered off leaving the stuff lapping over the bund and down the yard.

Would simple fairy liquid do a job, it disperses it very well?

Mmmmm, where is the overspill going to? Yes thatā€™s what the bund is for but the principal is NOT to have to use it except in a dire situation.
Irrespective of the profuse apologies I would certainly withhold a part of the invoice for a cleaning up charge.
You canā€™t fix stupid re the driveršŸ¤Ŗ

Yes, this would make me mad!
Luckily I have always had conscientious drivers delivering my diesel.

Auto stop valve no good if driver keeps repeatedly trying to pump more in. Learnt that from experience
What the heck is wrong with a driver that does that? That is pure negligence and that driver should not hold a fuel truck [or any truck?] driving license.

I know exactly how much my fuel stations have left inside and therefore how much to order, so there should be no overfilling unless I have made a mistake and even then I would expect a competent driver to know when the auto-stop valve was actuated and stop the pumping immediately.

Bilgex cleaner is quite effective, l used it on my boat when we got diesel in the bilges. Should work for you. Cleans thoroughly, dissolving grease and destroying harmful germs. suitable to use in the workshop or diluted as a powerful cleaner and deodoriser. Emulsifies petrol, oil and grease in the bilge. Removes grease, scum and floating oil with the normal movement of the boat. Biodegradable Highly concentrated - 100ml of product to 25 litres of sea or inland water is enough to treat a 30ft yacht. Gets rid of bad smells Non-caustic Sold in 1 litre bottles.

am surprised he tipped it
our lot insist on scribbling on a consent form to negate any liability if over flowed and thatā€™s bundled and has alarms on it

Count yourself lucky itā€™s not heating oil! That is rank. Quite like the smell of diesel. Not as much as petrol though šŸ„°

We ordered 5000l and they delivered it to my uncle on the next farm. His 2500l tank was already half full...cleanup cost in excess of 50k, stood by the supplier. The driver had sat in the cab because it was raining...he works somewhere else now.
