hi, my jcb 414 blew the seal on filter three times and I retightened it ,each time but now I have no forward or reverse, and there is a hissing noise from front of loader .Is pump knackered ? can I just swap it for a reconditioned one if it is? Is it difficult ? Have 100 acres of silage to purt up this week so under a bit of pressure. Sterss levels high.

It's a Clarke transmission I think. Telephone numbers to replace. I have one on a 410 that lost top gear, you're welcome to any bits, it's going to be weighed in after silage.

It might be a clark but at a guess i would say its a ZF transmission like this?

Not JCB expert BUT, i would say its a ZF transmission and you have a fault with the pressure regulator valve which has caused it to blow the filter seal, retightening it has just moved the weak point to another seal inside the gearbox i suspect, like a shaft sealing ring or clutch pack piston, now meaning it needs a transmission overhaul.

Its not going to be a quick fix by the sounds of it so you best get a man in to figure it out asap so you can make other plans cause if i'm right that machine wont be pushing up any grass next week let alone this week!

YES, is it easier to take out the engine to get it off , iwas just going to swap it with a second hand one.

Never done one but yes I expect its an engine out job.

Not sure why you would want to risk a second hand one imo! Likely theres something wrong with it and it's an awful lot of effort to go to swapping.

Just get yours fixed, be the best way long term.

I realise its a bit of a risk putting in a second hand one but getting quoted crazy money for reconditioned units.
