JD's what does Auto Trac ready mean?

Looking at used tractors, lots of the JD's say AutoTrac ready, what does this mean though, do they just need a screen fitting to do autosteer or just an activation code? Or does it just mean the wiring harness and steering orbital is fitted?

TIA.

30 series and older will be wired and have the steering valve on so will need an extra screen and receiver
R series might just need an activation code

Now Then..
As I recall, 30 series and most early R series would need a screen and receiver, later R series just need a receiver. All would need activation codes.

Autotrac ready means it has a steering valve and some wiring including a wheel angel sensor. So you can fit what system you want to it

sorry for raking up an old thread; been offered an 8410t and trying to work out if it’s AT ready. Has the resume switch on the armrest but no dome bracket. Anyone know if these big old girls all came out AT ready with the wiring tucked away? No access to tractor as at a dealer (who doesn’t know yet either) but if anyone can help us work out what to look for we would appreciate it

It might have been fitted with a resume switch for an ATU .

I'm not sure about a 8010 series but 6000 series with command arm has 2 cables in black ribbed shroud coming out the arm if it's autotrac ready if it wasn't it only has 1.

With the machine serial number, it's factory build can be looked up..

Yeah I wondered that; but every pic I can find on google seems to have a resume switch irrespective of an obvious dome/dome mount 🤷‍♂️

There wasn't many 8000 /8010 tractors round here were running autotrac it wasn't really a thing then .

As said the autotrac / greenstar side is a separate loom so look for 2 proper cables coming out the bottom of command arm as that'll be a wee clue

If you're looking for a DIY way of finding out, look your tractor up on JDParts. Find the steering valve location in the parts pages. Then, look at your tractor, see if the valve is there,,,,, 🚜🔎
Thanks for the advice. I've got auto steer and use it. Was generally more interested in the spec of the rest of the tractor.
