Could be the rollers but more than likely the little ram gone. Pull down the cover around the base and locate the little ram that allows the forward/ backward movement and see if theres any sign of the oil leaked out. Quite common for these to goThe seat in my John Deere 6930 is rocking forwards and backward, would that be the rollers. Or would it be other things also?
Some have an accumulator just under the side of the top plate, pop the plastic studs out of the skirt and check it hasn’t dropped down and rubbed a whole in it. It’s only held up with two zip ties! After that as Nearly says, get a squirty bottle with some washing up liquid and check all the pipes/connections for bubbles. Don’t rule out a punctured air bag.We have a JD 6920 and the seat has gone flat. I took the seat apart but cannot figure out what the issue it as a noise can be heard but the seat wont lift itself up.
Any ideas?

unbolt the seat rails lift the top off, take off the access panel and with a squirty bottle of dilute Fairy liquid spray the pipework then operate the seat, if you're lucky and the pipe(s) have chafed, a couple of 4mm push fit connectors and a sharp knife will sort the job out. Done it many times, whilst you're in there try and re route any pipes that have sharp angles.I need to sort the seat in our Mx, it's currently flat on the floor, pump runs but nothing inflates.
I've had a peer inside but couldn't see anything obvious.
Gonna limp along until April when we don't really need the tractor and get the seat out if it and onto the bench...
I’ve just put the cheapest genuine complete air seat in a 6420. Think it was 1400. Awesome tho as it replaced a spring seat. Thanks so far everyone, I'll need to try some troubleshooting tomorrow.
Looking at this PDF below on page 23 it says "Level control is leaky"?!
If it turns out to be a complex job I'll have to get it replaced as the tractor is over 20 years old. I'll ask my dealer tomorrow but looking online a brand new seat is easily over £1K ...
