Kelim Spring Barley?

Has anyone any experience of this variety?

Looking to buy in seed for this year and see Kelim is about top ranked for brackling resistance, whilst similar to Planet for lodging, ripening and specific weight.
Spring Barley is always planted after grazed fodder crops here and stays green, making for a late harvest (even with help). Brackling is less of an issue since moving from Propino to Planet, but still a major source of loss in some years.

Kelim is being pushed by Wynnstay locally, but why is it only a minor variety (c.1% of SB area)?

Is it in any "recommended" lists? I didn't see it there, that often puts folk off.
It looks a decent variety in terms of physical characteristics but haven't seen any disease resistance data.

Grew it last year, probably from the same source. It stood up better than my other variety and yielded better. The fact it was slightly later ripening may have helped it survive the bad weather period. Had no disease problems .

It was on the recc list a couple of years ago, but slipped of now. Disease resistance broadly similar to most of the other front runners, but a bit longer straw and '9' for brackling.

Planet does well here, but yield was irrelevant last year when it was very short strawed and brackled over so badly that half the heads never made it into the combine! The turnips I DD'ed afterwards have more volunteer barley plants in them than the full crop was last year. It'll make some high-protein keep for the sheep in March (pre-beet), but I'd rather be able to load it on a lorry.

Kelim is still one of the best spring feed barleys out there for grain & straw or wholecrop. Because its been around for such a long time, its place on Recommended List has been taken by other varieties, so if RL is important to you Sienna for a proven variety or Spelndor as a new high output variety that stands well.
