Anyone using one or got any experience using one ?

Particularly interested in how they perform in both extremely dry and extreme wet conditions

A mate uses one contracting down here, great in the dry for blowing up stubbles and covercrops, they put a seeder on it

Wet you'd not pull it at all, fairly good tug required on the front

Not sure what you want to do with one but they are definitely not no till machines.
Very good at getting stale seed bed and levelling land that can be rough. Very difficult to incorporate in the system here as the soil is so sandy it blows bad afterwards.

Not really a fan, but then I’ve probably seen them over used too many times
As said, can be good for levelling rough ground or smashing down stubbles ( if that’s what you want ) & will pull out small weeds.
Can be a nightmare in wet sticky soil.
Can cause a lot of surface compaction & damage to structure if overused.
In dry conditions can pound surface to dust.
They can be a good tool for specific uses, but also one you need to know when to leave parked up

They are supposed to be high speed indestructible things using high grade mining steel discs, one was sold locally to me, funny old ugly looking thing that they did not hang onto for long, was sourced through weaving I think.

Sir George Renner had one for a bit
No, we haven’t ever had a Kelly harrow I don’t think we have a tractor that could pull one! Our harrow is a Phoenix harrow, which isa much lighter rolling chain harrow and hardly works the soil at all compared to the Kelly, we pull a 12m one with 100hp and we can easily do 10-12kph. @MX7 was asking for a video of it working the other year which I took and never got uploaded. I’ll have another go later getting it on here later.

Yeah, Phoenix or Philips are “prickle” harrows, light to pull, compared to the heavy disc / chain Kelly style ( Brookfield also make them )

12m Kelly more likely to be seen with a 200 - 300 hp tractor in front of them
