I started out riding a vespa scooter round the field that i was given "if i could get it going". I wasn't tall enough to sit on the seat so i had to stand on the footplate, and reach up to the handlebars.
Think i got a little Yamaha after that.
Neighbours kids started on Thumpstar pit bikes, they sound good and their strong enough for a grownup to play on as well.

I had a Bultaco 175 trials bike for years .. Nearly killed a mate from school when chain came off a speed .Lost his memory for hours.

That's what I had, first one was a fiver, ran on the smell of petrol, neighbours complained a bit when the exhaust fell off.
Second one was £15, wasn't as reliable but ended up on the roads with it at 15.
Hold the gear lever down and get some revs on let pedal go , and off like the shuttle off the launch pad , then we pinched the silver cross pram , codged a draw bar onto it and yoked to rack on back and proceeded to try and kill sisters on it , after wrecking pram , and moving up to uncles 90 , had a bit more power to pull 2 sisters sat on a car bonnet , till that was stopped when burnt both of them with friction heat through the metal , cause they Darnt jump off 🤣

Just got a 2nd hand pit bike for our 12 year olds Xmas. It’s most probably Chinese but wasn’t going to spend big bucks on it... if he wants to get into it properly he’ll have to pay his own way.

125, looks like fun!

Most of the race derived bikes like the KX50/65 and KTM 50/65 will be a bit hard work for a new rider, especially over a mix of terrain. They are very much aimed at the race track and the performance, power delivery and suspension set up may not be very forgiving. I would also say that a 50 will be a bit small for a 9 year old. Something like the CRF or KLX range may suit better, they are less powerful, but have a more forgiving and softer spread of power and are much more user friendly around the ground (but wouldn't cut it on a race track) My 6 and 7 year olds both ride a CRF50. Its perfect size for the 6 year old, but the 7 year old is on the verge of needing to move up to a larger bike. Im just trying to decide what to get him. If he is keen to start racing I will get him a 65 of some description, If hes not and it will be mainly used around the farm either the CRF110 or KLX110.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
