l personally like the rubber ones - seem a bit more 'gentle' to me.

Maybe this current Mediterranean weather is making yours a bit soft :scratchhead:

I like the plastic ones for 'putting up the other end' if you have to give one an enema.

Just bought a new one. Is it just me or is a rubber tube hard to push down the lambs throat. I got on well with the more plastic type ones.
I had a rubber tube once that came in the “set” it’s probably perished away now, we’ll only use plastic tubes 👍🏻 they can be bought from most places I would have thought, this year I got mine from APS

Make sure its not dry , Warm water to lube.
Either you haven't got the nack, the patience or you are breeding lambs with a small gullet 😶😬
Make sure its going in right which is the nack part

I always use the nettex latex ones and rarely get a problem you want me to do yours for you ?

I learnt to tube with the red latex catheters. They took a season's use well. Using the clear ones now, because they last longer. One or two in kits with the syringe have been too long in the past, but haven't had one of those for several years, now.

There's an all in one pink device in the ag merchant's that looks far too big to use on a lamb. They were trying to sell them last year, and I didn't like the look of them then.

Trusti tuber... I’ve used one for the last couple of years and got on well with it. https://www.dairyspares.co.uk/product/trusti-tuber-lamb-kid-goat-feeder-ant30a/

Never had an issue with red rubber/latex tubes. I'm on my 2nd - got it about 5yr ago... previous one had done 20+ years.

Can't stand those syringes - the open funnel type, you know if you've sent the tube the wrong way.

I've tubed thousands over the years & plenty of patience with young life. Its just not as good as the plasticcy ones (I think the clear ones do have some rubber in them.).

What open funnel type? I find 60ml tubing syringes are good in the field but the shed has 100ml tubers, lambs that come in here usually need more than just a boost, I never use a plunger, I’ve seen too many lambs drown 10 minutes after the plunger has forced it in to fast

I'm not sure you can get them any more. I've a lamb to feed later so I'll take a pic of it... It's basically a bottomless bottle so works like a funnel. It holds 125ml colostrum (exactly what a dose of Osmond's colostrum is once added to water).

Vast majority of times put the tube over the throat you'll hit the stomach no bother, but very weak lambs you can put it into the lung if they don't swallow as it goes over. Every time you put the tube in, put the funnel to your ear - if you hear crackles fire the milk in, if it's silent try again

All the girls that work with me listen or put their ear to it but I don’t as I wouldn’t know what to listen for.
with plastic you can aim it to the right of the mouth like bolusing and it goes straight in, even with those pathetic weak hyperthermic lambs it’s in them in second, waiting for the colostrum to go down is the long part 🙄
