What are folks thoughts on timescale for lambs dying and decomposing?

I'd go with the one with the white tongue been dead about a day and the grey one 4 or 5 days. I reckon they've been dead 7-10 days when they're black and more than this when you pull 'em out in bits

That's just my theory - no vet evidence to back it up

Had the first rotten lambs of the year, been wondering when I would get them, just before lunch too

One was dark grey, placenta came out complete around the backend. 2nd lamb was ok but tongue was white.

They start to decompose pretty quick i think

What's the longest gestation anyone has had with a ewe, please? Ours have averaged 143 days but we have 2 hanger-ons at 153 days.

153 is about as late as you can get

80% have lambed, and they're still within the first cycle. Said they've been competing to finish by today

22°C today in what little breeze there is. 26°C in suntraps!

Going to move him into a larger pen tomorrow, he's doing really well, growing like a mushroom. Can't help to feel sorry for the wee fella though

Last cross ewe lambed at lunchtime. Cheviots are 14 days in. 21 days to go.

20 left. Still in the first cycle, but it's clear there is a handful that could stretch to the latest possible lambing date.

I'll leave my sleeping self here, and go to check them again ...

11 lambed today and that's me down to 45 still another 4 days left in this cycle, starting to struggle getting up through the night now.

Into second cycle, and worried about the hoggs carrying singles. Think feed was got about right with the hogg doubles - good milk yield, and nice sized lambs. Not far off with the singles - no utter whoppers ... yet.

How did you manage the Hogg singles? Mine were on hay and 250g 18% ewe rolls and lambed a treat.

Their individual ration is c100g of 19% ewe nuts, and they've had ad lib haylage.

They came in with rather high BCSs, so they've had less concentrates than last year's group.
