Lawnmower does not go self propelled

It’s got to be pushed
And it’s not my mower but I am using it
Is it just belt adjustment?

I don't want to sound like a complete P rick (just for a change) but is this mower a self-propelled one to begin with? It's not always obvious which models are and aren't self-trundling.

That is a nice mower though- got the Honda GCV170 engine. 👌

Granny sucking eggs here so apologies but it does says self propelled on it. So assuming that it has the two handles and you know both need to be squeezed against the main handle to get the engine to start the other one to engage the drive. Follow the cable for that one and see if anything moves or needs adjusted when squeezed.

If it is like my old one the belt from the engine shaft to the “gearbox” hass come adrift
or the tensioner come adrift.
whichever best solution is to throw it away :(. Except it is not yours
so turn on side take blade off then remove plastic shield behind the blade to see what is going on

Check that there is a drive belt and that it is on the pulleys correctly. There is a tensioning nut under the rear flap next to the chute. Don’t go mad with it. Best try it with the rear wheels in the air just to see if it does work. If it doesn’t then could be a new gearbox £££.

Mines self propelled. Wife does it.
Daughter’s pal’s parents were round dropping her off the other day, I was cutting the grass but it was mentioned that my wife does it time to time, this upset everybody.

Pal’s dad was annoyed that his wife won’t do it, wife was annoyed that my wife does and landed her in it, my wife was annoyed that pal’s wife never has to do it and I’m worried I’ll be landed with it all the time!

A sorry affair all round 🤣
