Hi, we’ve recently got ourselves a valtra n103 hitech, lovely little thing…two queries really…theres a fairly noticeable clunk going from range c to d..should it be seamless?
We’re looking to buy a kuhn ibio baler, which requires load sensing hydraulics..can this be fitted to the tractor without breaking the bank?
Thanks

Not sure on Ure transmission possibly needs calibrated . The load sensing I got one fitted to a T series for about a grand .

That clunk is what completely put me off buying a valtra it’s hideous and ridiculous.
Went with a John Deere in the end

Doubt an n103 is going to run a baler well.

Depends if it is a 3 or 4 cylinder.

4 cyl will have more torque and you could get a Steinbauer chip box to bring out its full potential.Should easily be engineered to take more power being lowest in the range.

With regard to load sensing it may not be possible to change how the system works, fixed output pump etc.

Does it have the high output pump as our 103-3 has really good flow?

My old 123 must of been over 170hp it was a animal 😂😂

If you’ve already bought the 103 get the gearbox calibrated and buy a steinburgh… there won’t be many Valtras of that age that are standard

It's maybe already have been running chipped to the moon, explaining the gearbox noises ? 🙄
Well he shouldn’t worry about powering the baler then 😂😂

shouldnt a Kuhn i bio baler be easy to run anyway? It makes the bale then wraps it while no bale is getting made unlike a fusion which does both at the same time

Hi, nope not chipped..My mistake, its clunking from b to c…mechanic said its’normal’..as 2 synchros are used in that particular range change..i dunno….
They do make some strange noises changing ranges. My N134 has started making a horrible noise C to D when cold. Presume it's the synchro because it's fine when static, and no worries once there's a bit off heat.

Don't panic if it's already been chipped. The engines are good for many more ponies than standard, especially as yours, like mine, is the "baby" of the range.

Not wanting to start another debate, (but) having done both, I'd highly recommend a remap instead of a chip....
