Looking for land

I have been looking for a while for some space to rent for me and my son to ride our bikes on, it would be light off roading and not tearing up the ground, I'd be happy to sign any injury waivers and take full responsibility for anything that happens, if any one can help please let me know

How can it be possible to use farmers land? I have seen many people that have said they pay a farmer to ride in a field, is it just the farmer taking a risk for money? I just want some where me and my son can ride a bike

Any landowner can rent out land for use by others, but he cannot sign away his responsibilities in the manner you suggested. If an accident were to happen and it was found to be due to some act of commission or ommission of the landowner, it is them that is for the hook, regardless of what piece of paper you have signed.

If you want a piece of land to ride with your son, I'd suggest you go to a place that is set up for that already. If there isn't any, perhaps you've found a gap in the market and you could buy some land yourself to run as a business.

Personally, I wouldn't have riders on my land - just because of the damage they would do to the crop (grass in my case).

Yeah I see what your saying, thank you for the information, I think there is definitely a gap in the market, land is just too expensive to buy for my budget which Is why I thought I'd look into how to get permission and also make the owner feel more comfortable having someone on their land. Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it

Out of interest, what would be the sort of money you would envisage paying, and what length of track would you expect to have for that - just to see if your expectations are sensible?

To be honest I haven't really given much thought to size etc, I've just started to look into things, I was more wanting to just pay to use a small space to do some light riding to get mine and my sons confidence up being on a bike as I have only recently started riding again but my son is really into it just needs to learn more before going to a track which there aren't many of for our types of bike, I haven't managed to get any responses for land to find out how much is the going rate but also wouldn't want to offer too little and look bad

There’s a guy let’s lads ride round his stubbles near me for tenner a bike

I wouldn't let anyone on my land for that money - would just attract the wrong sort and end up with a world of pain, I'd imagine, then they wouldn't stop during the rest of the year and you'd end up with masses of crop damage. Okay on stubbles, maybe but no chance on grass or crop.
