Machinery refresher courses

So, with the current restrictions that may change the way we do things going forward.
we will be holding a couple of online user refresher courses via zoom or Microsoft teams. And no we won’t be charging !
the idea is if you a Sulky user. We will put an invite on our social media. We will do the walk round next to a machine showing users how to calibrate, daily maintenance etc. Then at the end we will ask you to ask questions specific to that machine so we can go into more detail. The people watching can record it and use it later as a refresher.
Is this something people would find useful. Open for discussion so you don’t need to have a sulky to comment .
Cheers

Refresher on fert spreaders/drills start of may?

Bit late.

Have you got into trouble for other comments about only looking after machines under warranty?

I'm stupid, so I think it's a good idea, I forget how to operate drill, gps, fert spreader, balers. I just annoy other people who fortunately for me are very patient with me.

@Chae1 , sorry if I wasn’t clear. The current times and social distancing has got us looking at news ways to train. So we will hold the training video meetings for drills about a week before OSR seeding , again In late sept then the fert spreader course In late jan/early feb

This has nothing to do with the other thread. In fact it is to help and to try to be proactive rather than reactive. If I can reduce the calls to my service manger by doing a few video meetings, then all the better.

You are clear. Just me being stupid.

I am too literal. I think everything means now. My wifes a primary school and thinks I should be on some kind of autistic spectrum!

We are the same, I’ve had a test for various things last year when I had a wobble. I’m slightly on the spectrum as I don’t read feeling very well! Ha ha we are all different! Hope you are ok too after your little scare

I think it's a good idea. Anything to help us get going and reduce downtime. I have had to ring manufacturers service people for help before, and don't like it, it makes me feel a bit foolish.
If you do these videos please mark the path to them clearly on your website.
Another thing, in a plea to all manufacturers, please put your operator and parts manuals on your website so we can easily find them. It helps everyone, and please don't make us register/sign in. I never remember or lose the paper I wrote the password down on!

Yeah. You've just to get on with things in my opinion. No point sitting at home looking at the walls feeling sorry for myself.

Another thing I thought about is YouTube clips explaining things. I did one for recording field boundaries on NH gps because I kept forgetting!

Often thought the you tube videos should be a better source of information for farmers, far better than a manual. Buy an Accord drill for example and you could go to a you tube video to show how to calibrate, settings for small seeds etc, also a video how to change a disc bearing, routine daily maintenance, fan speeds etc.
It would be better than wasting a technicians time and forgetting what he said the next time their was the same issue and you have forgotten what he said. Surely it would cost peanuts to implement?

Most domestic products and a lot of cars have great clips on how to repair things.

Doesn't seem to exist for agricultural repairs.

Be a darn sight better than those silly photos of grease nipple locations on machines too!

In fairness to Sulky, they do have all the manuals and parts lists on the website, int fact I was able to use it to order a part, by number, from the field this year.

The translations in the manuals can be a bit trying and some times whole items are missed out.

We don't have any Sulky equipment so I don't know about their website.
It was just a general request really, from memory Lemken allows you to find the parts book for your machine quite easily. Trying to find an online parts book on the NH UK website is not, and I end up on the US website.

Its a great idea, dealers/manufacturers should spend a lot more time on things like this.
Its amazing how many people run equipment without fully understanding it.
It would be nice if some dealers could get the knowledge out to employees too. Its often 'the boss' that's shown what to do rather than the actual operator.
If nothing else it should reduce the mistakes that lead to component failure or inaccurate work, that the machine gets blamed for, rather than the operator.
