But who wants to stand in the pub and boast 3ft tall crops of maize in mid August? Bottom 18 inches of stalk takes more energy to digest than is available from it.Maize height is meaningless on it's own, cob to stover ratio is what counts.

Contractor near me years ago, chopping in field chopper struck cow with edge of the maize header and killed it, cow got into maize field eat cobs become bloated and was lying on its sideFortunately the bull trying to follow the last of the 325 cows was seen leaving the grazing paddock, so not much eating went on, just quite a lot of treading with 1300 feet.
