Manitou 741-120 v 4 cu.m. grain bucket

Would a Manitou 741-120 handle a 4 cu. m. grain bucket......... full of grain - or would it be too much ? I had originally planned to buy a 3 cu. m. bucket.
Reason I ask is because I have seen one at a competitive price.

I have a 2.5 cube on a 2015 741 and it handles it well but i think you’d struggle to crowd a bigger bucket back in a wheat heap.

Different make but I have a 4.3m3 bucket which is used on our claas 7055 which it’s manages ok, our Claas 741 will not crowd with this bucket. A bigger bucket is so much longer in the floor, it makes quite a difference.

no miles too big, 3cubic max and even then you would want decent ground to load on, no point maxing out the capacity better to go smaller so is more stable and you can do faster cycle times.

Cheers for that Andrew. I think it’s the price that caught my eye that’s misting things “ a tad” the 4 cube bucket does weigh a bit more also. Use a 2.5 cube xform from other machine at time’s via an adaptor - plate which it manages with ease. The bucket we’re using at the mo is a Hall Engineering E1 - bought for machine that the Manitou replaced - but doesn’t hold as much as the xform....... even though it claims to ?

Xforms are bigger than advertised.
I've always thought there rated capacity is at 80% full rather than level full.

I would concur with that, my 3 cube JCB branded Xform easily holds 2.5t of wheat without being level filled, even at an optimistic 0.8kg/l, 3 cube is 2.4t. This is on a 541-70 and I think this is a perfect match, definitely wouldn’t want a 4 cube bucket on it

The 4 cube bucket was advertised at £1,800. Last time I priced a 3 cube it was £1,700. Both Xform‘s

Dont know how current there website price are IMO, i know they along with most other in the market are only honoring quotes for 2 weeks from quote date at the moment due to the constant price increases. https://www.cherryproducts.co.uk/x-form-professional-1/x-form-buckets-2

Also you have not said about the width? if it an older 741 up to 2010 you can get away with a 7ft 6 but if after then they got wider so will need an 8ft bucket to cover the width of the machine.

A BK 27-80 would be fine or a BK30-80 max if the loading area is good and level.

Will be an 8’ - replacing a 7’6”

You could also consider an Albutt, wont be any cheaper than xform i doubt but they are perfectly fine bucket too. Maybe not so generously sized compared to xform though, probably more a rated level fill capacity?

what do you recon @AlbuttDan :)
Seem to have set my heart on an Xform. Like the material they’re made of, lighter, & material flows off them better than a normal bucket.

Very good price that, got the optional bolt on wear edge too, this i why i dont bother pushing attachments to sell anymore, too many dealers seem to enjoy selling them at cost price/loss leaders for some odd reason.

if thats an HD40-80D then its rated at 3.53cubic metre in my 2020 price list and had a retail price of £3020 plus vat in 2020.

be making a loss of one monkey roughly based on 2020 prices, not including any delivery costs
