Any body had any problems with straw or silage wrapping around the drive shaft and blowing a seal on a manitou 635 -130? I've been told by manitou they've never had a problem befor, but it's happened to me twice, and that there isn't a option of a belly plate, anybody else had a problem with it?

When I had a Manitou, round bale silage had a tendency to wrap around the drive shaft when I was putting it out for dry cows in a feed passage. I found the easiest way to drive it and stop the wrapping was to always reverse when putting the bales out, cannot wrap then.

If you insist on putting wrap and net etc under the boom or letting straw build up under it, what else do you expect to happen!

It's no great hard ship to pull the straw off it now and then, and as for anyone storing net wrap under there then they deserve it if imo! Wrap and string on a machine is a pet hate of mine, it's just lazy leaving it on there and not putting it in a bin.

It's been a similar design for the past 21 years so no it's not a new never heard of problem but one that is entirely avoidable.

grandad used to love riding across swaths of hay with our matbro which was the same with exposed propshaft, he didn't so much enjoy digging it out but didn't learn either:LOL:

It's nothing to do with wrap or net, it's happened twice while buckracking

Have had it happen when shaking out a bale of straw - wonder why suddenly down on power.

As regards wrap (temporarily) shoved under the boom, it's a better place than rammed behind the seat!
